"So, finally... Are you ready for my Radioshow + Label?"

Cryptic, Nicky, cryptic. I guess that means this is one step further in the direction of the path of becoming an overlord of EDM. There's just nothing in this young one's way. Legend status? Sooner rather than later, if you ask us.

Prydz Premieres New Track 'Leja' - Unsurprisingly, Still One of The Most Talented Artists in EDM

Don't worry everybody, Eric Prydz is still one of the strongest talents in electronic dance music. Not that you were worried about his abilities fading anytime soon, anyways.

The untouchable Prydz joined BBC's Zane Lowe to premiere a bit from 'Leja,' a track off his upcoming "Eric Prydz Presents Pryda" compilation coming out soon. 'Leja' starts off beatless and mostly amorphic, its beginnings seeming to only contain their soft synthesizer sounds in order to exhibit the emotion Prydz wants to come across to the fan. From there, the song quietly twists and turns into a downtempo-meets-disco production filled with light, yet still glimmering notes and melodies.

Since the word "perfection" starts with a "p," I think it's only appropriate we soon wedge that word into the growing lists of Prydz/Pryda pseudonyms. Seriously.

Kaskade Los Angeles & San Francisco Freaks of Nature Summer Tour Dates Announced

Kaskade Freaks of Nature Summer Tour Dates Announced

Kaskade Los Angeles & San Francisco Freaks of Nature Summer Tour Dates Announced & Tickets Here..  Mr. Fire & Ice himself FINALLY gave California fans what they wanted: Freaks of Nature Summer California dates. On Monday, April 23rd he announced via Facebook he'll be back on the west coast on July 27th in Los Angeles performing a huge event at the Staples Center. Keep in mind this will be a historic event due to the fact Kaskade will be the first EDM act to host a dance concert at the stadium. The following evening, July 28th, he will headline the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, CA. So, pretty heavy news for us Californians. Both dates begin pre-sales on Tuesday, April 24th and the general on-sale begins on Friday, April 27th at 10AM PST, all info available at www.freaksofnaturetour.com. We might even throw a giveaway to this since we've been patiently waiting to do a Kaskade giveaway since his last huge show back in 2010. We can almost guarantee you tickets for this will sell out within minutes so budget some room and buy your ticket. You won't regret it at all.

"I'm bringing along my homeboys Alvin Risk, Fareoh, Treasure Fingers and Le Castle Vania, to a city near you really soon," Kaskade revealed on MTV.

In New Julio Bashmore Mixes We Trust

We really, really wish we knew what "mysteriously swashbuckling house music" meant, but at least we know what it sounds like: bliss.

Julio Bashmore participated in BBC Radio 1's brand new "In New DJs We Trust" program to lay down an hour of that "mysteriously swashbuckling" music he speaks of. The highlights: cuts from the burgeoning footwork/juke scene, new Girl Unit, and a track from The Dream.

Check it out here.

HARD Summer 2012 Official Lineup

HARD Summer 2012 Lineup

The HARD Summer 2012 lineup is officially out and it's looking fantastic. HARD events pulled some talent from every nook, cranny, hole, crevice, and realm of music for this lineup. From booking techno, dubstep, house, and the usual suspects of EDM genres to left of center choices from funk and culinary arts inspired hip-hop.
We're absolutely ecstatic about the show and can't wait for this event to come in August. Only four months left, folks. Also, keep in mind that tickets for this massive will sell out so once you take that initial look-through of the lineup, which resides down below, purchase your 2-day pass as soon as possible. Do yourself a favor - don't miss out on another spectacular Gary Richards production.

HARD Presents... Skrillex, Bloc Party, Miike Snow (Live), Boys Noize, The Bloody Beetroots (DJ Set), Squarepusher, A-Trak, Chromeo (DJ Set), Magnetic Man, James Murphy, Little Dragon, Erol Alkin, Datsik, Bootsy Collins & The Funk Unity Band, Fake Blood, 12th Planet, Dillon Francis, Zedd, Gesaffelstein (Live), Brodinski, Claude VonStroke, Buraka Som Sistema, Breakbot, Araabmuzik, Justice Martin, Joey Beltram, Craze, The Gaslamp Killer, Destructo, Trolly Snatcha, Surkin, Alex Metric, John Talabot, Birdy Nam Nam, Danny Brown, Action Bronson, Riton, Oliver, Zombie Disco Squad, Alvin Risk, DJ Attention, Jokers of the Scene, Light Year, Kill Frenzy, Smims & Belle, Nick Catchdubs, Jim E-Stack, Mr. Muthafucking Exquire, Brenmar, Lunice, Baid, Nick Thayer, Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team, Huoratron, Codes + much more TBA.

GDE's Opinion: Overall this lineup is pretty dope. We have the same acts that have been on the lineup for the last few outings, but that shouldn't stop anyone from attending. What really caught our eyes was seeing Miike Snow, Brenmar, Little Dragon, Bootys Collins, Action Bronson, Lunice and Danny Brown's name's on there. Everyone else we wanted, and already knew were going to be on the roster, are on there. But those acts/artists in particular has us going full bay area dumb. We're stoked.

Wishful Thinking: For some reason we really, really thought Justice, M83, and SBTRKT were for sure going to be at this year's HARD Summer. Those were the three acts we desperately wanted to see on the bill, but alas, no dice. Maybe later on they'll add those three since there will be "much much more" as the flyer claims. Also, we kinda wish Chromeo's performance wasn't a DJ set. We're not saying that because they have a particularily bad DJ show, we're saying that because these guys really, REALLY know how to rock a crowd live. Also, is it just us or can you somehow see Santigold being apart of this lineup... one day.

The Acts you NEED to see:  Trust us, you won't be disappointed with these:
Miike Snow - Boys Noize - A-Trak - Chromeo - Little Dragon - Bloc Party - Squarepusher - Gesaffelstein - Brodinski - Araabmuzik - The Gaslamp Killer - Danny Brown - Brenmar - NERO - Joey Beltram - Bootsy Collins & The Funk Unity Band - Breakbot - Claude VonStroke - Fake Blood - Action Bronson - Lunice

Major Lazer Get Free

The picture above represents the sound of the new Major Lazer track: breezy, laidback, and nice to groove to after a long day of dinosaur hunting. From what we can hear, Diplo's definitely let some of that Usher "Climax" session seep into his other recordings too. Some of the synths, and structure, remind us of the aforementioned tearjerker.

VEVO Presents "The Greyhound" at the Belasco

VEVO & ABSOLUT Vodka present The Greyhound with Politik & Tim Mason and...

Surprise Guests. Yup, special guests. Special people. We're hearing big rumors it could be either Steve Angello, Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso or even the whole Swedish House Mafia camp performing in Downtown Los Angele's nightclub The Belasco. The flyer its self gave us a clue since both the flyer and SHM's "Greyhound" video feature greyhounds in them... dead giveaway right? Sources tell us it is all three of them but it's only a secret private show, well as secret it can be with the actual Belasco EDM fan page posting the flyer with the message attached "Tonight will be a night to remember. With very 'Special Guest' DJ's." Either way RSVP's for this event have been closed for hours now and like we said it is a private show so NO TICKETS will be available at the door. This is special invite only.

California Dubstep Brand "Seismic" Comes to San Diego's 4th & B

San Diego's lone Dubstep weekly "Seismic" is making a major move. Starting May 6th, 2012, the bass music promotion will move to the deep south of California's 4th & B venue, which has been flocked to and acclaimed all across the west coast for its productions. 4th & B's history includes shows involving superstars like Swedish House Mafia's Sebastian Ingrosso and Tiesto, as well as rock legends such as Deep Purple, Elvis Costello, Ringo Starr, and Social Distortion. As far as 4th & B's more technical specs go, it "boasts a capacity of 1,500 people, a recently installed video 10 mil LED wall, and a brand new state-of-the-art JBL sound system," so those wanting to be mentally and physically jarred by the power of dubstep's heavy frequencies being broadcasted through stunning sound quality should have themselves a new home come May.

Lineup to be announced soon. For more information, check out the following sites:

The Apex of Tritonal & Ben Gold's Collaborations

Ben Gold and Tritonal are back with the sequel to their incredible joint production "Slave." Their new track "Apex" will be available April 23 and is another one of those very accessible and instantly likeable trance-meets-electro productions that will end up becoming standard fare in the live music circuit. "Apex" is heavy on the gloss, the energy, and the enjoyability. The song was premiered by Gareth Emery at Club Space Miami during the WMC, and has been nominated as a "Future Favorite" on Armin's ASOT Radio show, so this is one to keep your eyes and ears out for.

A Weekly Dose of Trance: Take As Needed

We're introducing A Weekly Dose of Trance: Take As Needed, a series of updates, reviews, and perspectives on trance that will be up every week starting today. Our very own contributor and writer Jaimee Lieske will post and discuss brand new Trance songs that she loves and wants to share with our audience, as well as inject some of her own opinions on the artists and genre responsible. This week she tackles Mat Zo's new single "The Sky", Dash Berlin's and Shoguns "Callisto", Tydi's "Greater Heights (Tom Fall Remix)", and Markus Schulz's "Karbon." Take a quick look on what she had to say about these tracks and be sure to listen. Enjoy!

On TATW #419, Mat Zo took the record of the week with his new track “The Sky.” I’ll say right now that I have a feeling this may be one of the biggest tracks of the year.  Yes, it’s different from most of Zo’s recent stuff, but I’m loving this fresh sound.  Marcus Schossow’s sister, Linnea, graces this track with her vocals and starts off the song with a really beautiful and euphoric intro.  The song picks up with a very unique synth and a catchy beat.  With the synth, you’ll either love it or hate it; I find it hauntingly beautiful, and am really loving it.  I think Zo has once again proven that he knows how to deliver some of the most versatile and hypnotizing tracks out there.  Needless to say, I think this track definitely deserved record of the week and I can’t wait until it’s officially released.

Now this is one track I can’t wait to hear the full version of.  Two of trance’s best DJ's came together on this one, and after hearing Dash preview this track at ASOT Miami, I’m already loving what I’m hearing.  With Shogun’s huge success on ‘Skyfire’ last year, I’ve been waiting for something big from him and this huge collaboration may be it.  This track brings all the euphoria of “Till The Sky Falls Down” and I’m guessing the full track will have an awesome buildup similar to “Skyfire.”  Looks like it’s going to be another great year for both Dash and Shogun!  The single is set to release on April 27th.

After putting on one of the best sets at ASOT 550 London, I have not been able to get enough of Tom Fall.  It’s safe to say that his ASOT set definitely put him on the map for a lot of trance lovers, myself included.  He’s become known for remixing tracks from some of the world’s best trance artists and making their songs dare I say, better than the originals?  Having already remixed several of tyDi’s tracks, it’s no surprise that Fall took on tyDi’s latest release “Greater Heights.”  As if the original mix wasn’t already great enough with the seductive mixing of tyDi and Tunishia, and the amazing vocals of Jennifer Rene; Tom Fall gives this track the bass it was missing, making it especially dance-worthy.  And don’t even get me started on the incredible buildup and drop, just check it out for yourself.  This track is also now available on Beatport.

ASOT 550 Den Bosch brought us a new collaboration from Markus Schulz and Arnej titled “Karbon.”  This was the world premiere of the track and is a rip from Schulz’s live set at ASOT. (Schulz technically first dropped this song at his LA 12’ release party but no one knew the track ID).  Personally speaking,  there's been some reservations and mixed feelings about this track ever since I first heard it.  I think it’s a great collaboration and you can really hear what each artist brought to the track, but I feel like it’s missing something.  The intro is awesome, the bassline is great, and the beat definitely got stuck in my head pretty quick, but I just wish there was a little more.  But hey, maybe I’m just being greedy. Either way, this is definitely a track to check out if you haven’t already.

Steve Angello Can Now Control ALL Forms of Media

We're just going to go out on a limb here and say this picture was taken when Steve Angello finalized the plans for his brand new "Size TV" program. What's Size TV? Here's the official description:

"Ever wondered what life was like outside of the club for your favorite Size Records artists? For the first time ever Steve Angello has let the cameras in to film him and his extended Size family on the road and in studio.

Size TV will capture the creative process that goes into developing the hottest tracks from scratch in the studio, candid moments that fans typically never get to see and an inside look into what being a Size Records artist is all about."

Basically, part feature, part documentary, part online television series. With Size TV fans all around the world can see what happens behind the scenes in studio and on tour and are given insight to Steve Angello and Size Matters' creative processes and personal lives. The best part about this? From the look of the first video, everything is done very well and Angello and his crew appear to be able to hold the interest of viewers for as long as they like. Check it out!

Be sure to catch Steve Angello and the whole SIZE MATTERS crew at The Hollywood Palladium on Saturday, May 12th.

David Guetta & Nicky Romero Now Have Their Own City

I suppose this track is named "Metropolis" for a reason, because this collaboration between David Guetta and Nicky Romero has the real potential to own the nightlife and dance music scene in your local bustling metropolis.

The song is palpable enough for mainstream audiences who only know of the radio and what they hear in their weekend-only receational activities, and intense and hard enough for those who go out to see their favorite house DJ's headline whenever they come to town.

Think David Guetta's gone too soft? Well, his collaborative work with Nicky Romero proves the aspiring megastar will keep him in line.

Porter Robinson's Linguistic Philosophy

Porter Robinson's first true masterpiece, "Language" is now available on Beatport here.

The electro house of the abrasive and aggressive variety that the young producer has become known for isn't layered on nearly as thick as usual. Instead, the production gives way to more melody, lighter sounds, and an emotional feel akin to what you would find in trance or progressive house.

April Does The Dada

The mad Swedish scientists of dance music, Dada Life, are back with another mix loaded with all sorts of bassy, progressive, heavy, and electro-flavored house. For the month of April, let's do the dada.

Tracklist:

NO_ID & Martin Volt - Zelda (Original Mix)
Nari Milani - Atom
Congorock - Agarta
Alvaro & The Partysquad - Wataah
Deborah Cox - If it Wasnt For Love (Promise Land) (Dada No Vocal Edit)
Laidback Luke & Arno Cost & Norman Doray - Trilogy (Swanky Tunes Remix)
Beltek - Party Voice
Zedd - Shotgun
Porter Robinson - Language
NAPT & Peo De Pitte - Gonna Be Mine (Far Too Loud Remix)
Fast Foot - Cows To The Slaughter (Lazy Rich Remix)
Starkillers And Dmitry Ko - Light It Up (Michael Woods Re-edit)
Spencer & Hill feat. Giovanni Tha King - Miami Girlz (LAZRtag Remix)
Madonna - Girl Gone Wild (Dada Life Remix)

Paul Van Dyk 'Evolution' Album Review by Global Dance Electronic

With all the recent mainstreaming of EDM and it’s new artists, it was a breath of fresh air to discover that a trance legend who made it big before all the new found hype was making a return.  Having not released an album since 2007, Paul van Dyk’s newest album ‘Evolution’ has been hugely anticipated by trance lovers.

‘Evolution’ consists of fifteen original tracks featuring collaborations with some of EDM’s top trance producers and vocalists.  A couple of the vocalists may seem out of place for a PvD album, but we all have to come to terms with the fact that trance has changed a lot since his last album.  It’s sad to think that today’s new age ravers may have never even discovered the beautiful melodic trance that PvD graced us with back in the 90s and early 2000s, but it’s a truth for many.  It’s a new day and age, and van Dyk has surely altered his sound to encompass this new scene.  ‘Evolution’ is a blend of instrumental trance, trip-hop, a dash of progressive house and drum n bass, and some classic vocal trance.

The album starts off with the track ‘Symmetries’ ft. Austin Leeds, who also helped collaborate on the huge track ‘New York City’ back in 2007.  I had high hopes for this collaboration but it unfortunately fell short.  The track itself is way too Avicii-esque and is nothing more than a trance version of ‘Fade Into Darkness’ or ‘Levels.’  Other similar songs like ‘Eternity’ and ‘Rock This’ were essentially made for radio, and older PvD fans may be a little taken a back by these tracks.

Radio made songs aside, the most note-worthy tracks on the album are ‘Verano,’ ‘I Don’t Deserve You,’ and ‘Heart Stops Beating.’  While ‘Symmetries’ may have fallen flat, this Austin Leeds collaboration is exactly what I was hoping for.  ‘Verano’ is a fast paced track with elements of the classic PvD we know and love, and is hands down the most dance worthy track on the album.  If you’re only going to listen to one track off this album, make it this one.  This track is definitely the kind of banger that you’ll hear at a music festival and I wouldn’t be surprised if it starts making its way into live sets sooner rather than later.  ‘I Don’t Deserve You and ‘Heart Stops Beating’ are two beautiful vocal tracks that are quite opposite of each other but are both a great infusion of classic and modern day trance.  Both Sarah Howells and Plumb gave these tracks the little extra kick they needed.

‘Evolution’ makes it hard to deny that van Dyk knows how to put out one of the most versatile albums around.  One track may tell a beautiful story through euphoric trance and the next moves on to a bass infused, energetic track with “big room” sound.  Unfortunately, there are just one too many mediocre tracks mixed in, and in turn you can end up overlooking some of these gems.

As much as I wanted to absolutely obsess over this album, as a whole it isn’t very memorable; especially compared to his last album “In Between.”  I was expecting a little more from this legendary artist, but it’s clear he’s in a transition stage and experimenting with some new sounds.  If you delve into this album expecting a complete transformation, or for everything to have the same exact old school vibe, you’re going to be disappointed either way.  I suggest listening to this “evolution” of PvD  with an open mind, don’t worry about what genre it is, or whether it stays true to his trance roots; just take the album for what it is and you may find yourself a few new favorite tracks.

‘Evolution’ is now available on iTunes.

Where Hardwell Has Been

Hardwell went above and beyond the call of DJ duty with this one.All you mash-up DJ's lurking the booths of over-priced and hyped nightclubs might as well call it quits when it comes to the remix and bootleg game.

The young producer is taking on Rihanna's pop smash "Where Have You Been" in remix, instrumental, and radio edited form. Don't fret, these are not sugary-sweet, unnecessarily rinsed tracks suited for top 40's, though they could very well chart in the single digits. The bass-heavy drop, the moodier, darker synths, and the adrenaline-boosting buildup - everything is produced to perfection.

Release date is not yet known, but it should be out soon.

Nicky Romero Releases Some Tension... For Free

In celebration of reaching 100,000 "likes" on Facebook, Nicky Romero has released all those pre-100k jitters and anxieties via song.

"Tension" is another example of Romero's excellent versatility and creative ability, and is another strong reason to put your money on Romero becoming one of the next highly-acclaimed and respected legends of EDM. The production mixes both harder, more higher impact styles of modern house with the progressive styles being tapped from the veins of Swedish House Mafia and their kin.

TOMMY TRASH'S APRIL MIX! GO CRAZYYYY!

Any mix that begins with Congrorock's  blazing go-crazy get-wild banger "Monolith" is going to be on some intense shit. Really, this whole mix is the aural equivalent of Tommy Trash's rager pose in this post's pic. Even the transition into softer pieces of music like "Chasin" makes you just want to lose it and rock out with Tommy on stage.

How can someone exude this much energy without even being there live in the flesh? Maybe it's the hair.

Tiesto & Wolfgang Gartner Own The Night

Pretty standard, hard-thumping electro house courtesy of dance music kings Tiesto & Wolfgang Gartner. Vocals give it a nice sexy touch too. You'll hear this in a club or event soon, trust us.
