Audiotistic, the festival that has been uniting two sectors of music year after year, will not be taking place this year.
On Monday, May 21st, event organizer bossman Pasquale Rotella replied to twitter user @EazyV's tweet "So whats up with audiotistic? Because I notice all other dates announced 4 events, just not audio?" with "Not having audio till 2013," thus releasing the noose on any chance of there being an Audiotistic 2012.
Disappointment seems varying, as Audio was the one of the many major events in the California EDM scene's massive, near-bloated, heavily saturated summer series, and it has always held a position as an alternative to some of the other shows going on. However, at the same time, Audiotistic has revealed itself year after year as the mid-year festival season's weakest link in with its lower numbers of participants and dull expectations.
Ringleader Rotella continued his tweets, replying to another twitter follower with this message on why it's not happening:"Logistics didn't work out to give you a proper festival." This statement could mean a multitude of things, it appears as though most in the community seem to think it's due to the fact it did really poorly last year, which was a whole other issue in itself. Last year's Audiotistic had a number of factors that came into play, such as low ticket sales, cancelled appearances, and lowered perceptions of the event's lineup.
What we found interesting was both Dubstep artist Cookie Monsta and FuntCase had their tour dates already up on Circus Records and both with Audiotistic under their schedule. It was a bit odd too because Cookie Monsta had Audio under July 14th and Cookie Monsta with July 20th, maybe they're two different events with the same name? Yeah, sure. We highly doubt that one. These two must have already been booked and set to play this year, but some behind-the-scenes decision-making had to have happened and now we're left without an Audiotistic.
But even though we're left without from Audiotistic this year, there's still hope. Nocturnal Wonderland 2012 is right around the corner and tickets go on sale Saturday, June 30th 2012. and it once again returns for two days. Check out our features down below.
