Global Dance Electronic Reviews - Nocturnal Wonderland 2011

Cosmic Gate At Nocturnal Wonderland 2011 15 min. Clip

We once again journeyed down the rabbit hole at this years 17th annual Nocturnal Wonderland and in celebration of it's returning to "Wonderland" roots the festival was turned into a 2-day massive with over 100+ artist featuring it's signature areas: Alice’s House, The Labyrinth, Sunken Garden, Queen’s Ground, and the Upside Down Room. All 5 areas were fully themed with full blown sound systems and state of the art lights, lasers, and fog machines. Let us take you down our rabbit hole and what we thought were the best sets of the weekend. Are you ready?

Friday, September 23rd had so many wonderful acts we wanted to see from Gareth Emery, Arty, Avicii, W&W, Marco V, Dirty South, and Fedde Le Grand. And luckily we almost got to see all of them. I felt the vibe on day one was perfect and the reason being it wasn't as packed which meant shorter lines at everything and you were able to dance anywhere you heart desired. So much fun.

Three sets that i absolutely loved and enjoyed had to be Gareth's, Arty's, and Fedde Le Grands, these three had me on my feet for their entire set and watching theme from backstage was even more magical especially having the opportunity to meet and take a picture with Trance legend Gareth Emery. Highlight of my weekend. Arty was also impressive especially when he dropped his new single "Kate", being the first time i had a chance to hear his song it was really good. Surely a crowd favorite. I had the chance to witness 30 minutes of Fedde Le Grand's set and wow he blew me away, this guy knows to rock the house down. Still a little bummed out i only saw a short bit of his set but next time he's in California ill be there. Overall day one was pretty epic. I hadn't had this much fun at a massive since EDC Las Vegas, it was one of those experiences you just had to be there for.

ARTY At Nocturnal Wonderland 2011

Saturday, September 24th day two of Nocturnal Wonderland was finally here, after partying it up the night before, we were ready to do it all over again. Walking in to the NOS Events Center it seemed more crowded which was expected and all five stages were opened to the public. The first act we saw was Lisha Lashes, the Trance she dropped was incredible and her entire set was amazing, had us all pumped for the night. She was a great way to start the party with. After grabbing a few drinks the team and i, which included Christian Alva from Electronica Life and Siyeda from Global Dance Electronic, hit up the main stage and that bitch was packed to the point you couldn't see from the entrance. We knew tonight was going to be insane.

Their were multiple sets i really enjoyed from Kaskade, Sebastian Ingrosso, Green Velvet, Gabriel & Dresden, Sean Tyas, and Pleasurekraft but the one group in particular that absolutely made my night had to be Cosmic Gate, i finally had the chance to witness them live and let me tell you they were amazing. The energy in the Labyrinth stage was out of this world. People were dancing non stop and kept the party going for their entire set. After a few tracks “Fire Wire” dropped and it literally made the people jump out their socks. The bass on that track kept my ears ringing for days on end, it was one of those “Holy Shit” moments that you’ll never forget. I caught myself jumping up and down while fist pumping in the air to this song, it was too crazy not to. Once again the energy had me going up in the air non stop.

The final track the legendary Trance group played was “Exploration of Space (Back 2 The Future Remix)”. When you heard the Synth creeping up on you it gets you pumped and you just start to loose it. My eyes closed and I just let the music take me, In all honesty I shed tears when the song was playing. Hearing this track brought back memories of my first party as a youngster barely getting into the scene, it was magic once again. Having my best friend by my side made the whole experience even better and this was her first time seeing and hearing Cosmic Gate. But before you knew it you heard the words “Exploration of Space” and the whole tent stage ERUPTED with at least a couple thousands fans jumping in the air at the same-time, it was incredible to witness that live. Throwing my hands up in the air while dancing to the music made me feel like an angel flying to heavens doors. All the problems in the world went away for those few minutes. It’s small moments like these that will last a life time.
