The Weeknd - Thursday

A mysterious R&B artist with the most frightening and sexy vocals you ever heard has made his name through 9 YouTube videos in the last half of the year known as The Weeknd, a young 21 year old from Toronto, Canada, finally drops the anticipated mixtape, 'Thursday', months after making a huge internet buzz with the 'House Of Balloons' mixtape in early 2011 and getting the attention of all true music lovers, musicians, bloggers from Hip-Hop to Rock to Electronic/Dance music. Pitchfork magazine even gave it a 8.5 review saying "The group's penchant for druggy atmospherics is mirrored in their lyrical content, which is overtly sexual, narcotics-focused, and occasionally downright frightening." 


He has been hinting all of his fans for recent months that the second installment from his series of mixtapes (House Of Balloons, Thursday, Echoes Of Silence) will finally be available to download. And on Wednesday, August 18th, 2011 The Weeknd gave us all a clue when a picture was posted on his official Facebook account of a women with balloons barely showing her face with the words "Thursday" written on them in black marker, people went nuts after that and started spreading the news and posting the same exact picture as their profile pic on Facebook, as we did.

Now the time has come and it's finally here. After listening to the mixtape twice we can say he did it again. All 9 tracks are unique and somewhat similar to 'House Of Balloons' but with more raw guitar riffs and heavy drum patters to make you're head pound. Once we hear it and get the feel for it our official review will be out but until then let us enjoy this great mixtape.... On this wonderful Thursday.
